2010 Designer Edible Garden
The designer edible garden at Garden World Spring festival has been great fun to build. We at Room To Grow feel that we learnt a lot from the show last year, and have improved on our show garden skills greatly.
The inspiration for the Pizza oven garden, A Cooking Garden Spot, came from my own obsession with making home made pizzas, dabbed with a little envy from Jamie Oliver’s pizza oven in his garden. I recently saw this Oliver garden on one of those Woolworths free Jamie CD’s.

What could be better than sitting around in the warm spring sunshine, with a Bloody Mary in hand, chatting to friends while the wood fire starts to heat up the outdoor oven in preparation for the cook-off? While you wait for the fire to heat up, you pick and choose out of the delicious organic herbs in the garden what you would like in your food.

The oven is a very dynamic structure as it can make not only pizzas but also bakes, breads, pasts, pudding…and just about anything one would make in a regular oven.
The choice of herbs that we have used in the garden are specifically for the cooking of Italian style cuisine that is rustic and simple.

If you’re interested in seeing a demonstration of the oven, as well as coming to see all the
other Garden World Spring Festival show gardens - which have definitely got the WOW
factor, why not join me, Caro, and my team on saturday the 21st and sunday the 22nd of
August. We will be there form 9am to 2pm cooking up a storm.

The garden has an oven, a screed preparation table and raised beds that double as seating places
